Super mom strikes again.

Happy birthday Carrig! May you have the largest sugar-high of your life tomorrow - while you are at daycare.

Because we wanted to be the last...

...to post holiday photos.

Yes, life has gotten the better of us and we have not updated the blog with anything more than a mobile upload in over two months. Oops. I mean, sorry. But let me just say Carrig is bigger, faster, louder, and more hungry than any of you have seen. College fund...no. Try a feed-the-adolescent fund.

But back to the task at hand. Our posting hiatus started some time in November if my rusty memory serves me correctly. Let's begin with Thanksgiving. We were visited by both sets of grand parents in the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving. During their visits we explored some new areas around Boston and found a stellar state park near Rockport. Pictures and commentary are below.

We happily spent Thanksgiving with our extended Fehlner-Smith family. The following day we did it all over again at our house. You can see how excited Carrig was to do this all over again.

That weekend we took a trip up to Rockport and Halibut Point State Park.

Grandma Thomas visited the next weekend. Believe it or not, if was colder and even more even less optimal to walk along the sea.

At the outset Carrig was wondering how and why he got stuck with parents like us.

But he started to have a good time once we got moving.

Christmas was then just around the corner and Kristin and I were no where near ready. We barely had time to find kid-safe decorations and, as usual, we didn't get any of our presents in the mail on time (in fact, we still haven't sent them). But our families pulled through for us (i.e. Carrig) in the end and we appreciate it.

"MINE!"

The Christmas of a baby born in 2010.

The carnage...and I need to point out that this is only from ONE side of the family.

I am sure that Grandpa didn't predict that I would find this use for the toy.

Christmas day this year was spent with in Philly with Kristin's family. The drive down took six hours and was largely uneventful. The dive back...not so much.

"OK. What's next? Keep those gifts coming people!"

"YOU, open this for me. What are you waiting for?"

Teaching you Carrig his first Christmas carols. Of course, Carrig wants to help.

This brings us to the evening of the 26th at approximately 11:00pm. While watching the evening news I learned of an approaching Nor'easter. The weather man announced that we should expect 3-4' of snow, potentially stranding us for 48hrs. But rain, nor snow, nor Nor'easter will keep me from the lab. No way!

Ten hours later we made it home. Carrig was a champ for the entire way. He knew that if he cooperated he would be allowed to try out his new sled!

As of today we enter a new stage - Carrig is one. More trips are planned and adventures await. We promise to get back on the blog band wagon and to get this updated more often and with more than just photos. The kid is incredible and we want to share.
